Notice the Hummer, Denali, big boat, two jet skis, and customized swimming pool all on one postage stamp sized lot. Welcome to the new millennium. This isn't just a McMansion...it's a Happy Meal with toys.

I value my peace, quiet, and privacy of having a smaller house on a big lot much more than I would with such novelty items. It seems like many people nowadays think they constantly need more new and exciting stuff instead of peace and quiet in order to be happy. It's as if they're on crack. What a shame!
That lot is bigger than it looks, I'd say 1/2 acre at least.
To the water question:
I lived in Las Vegas and moved to the South this year. Had a pool in LV,have a pool now. My water bill is 50% HIGHER here than in Las Vegas. Yes that is right, 50% higher, same people using about the same amount of water ~10,000 gallons a month.

So true daveo!
I've got to ask. All of this looks like desert. I see more and more houses with more and more pools.
What is the water situation? How much do you pay?
In jersey, I pay ~$60/quarter for what amounts to about 14,000 gallons.
I assume this is in a desert area? Otherwise the rain water runoff would be a nightmare.
I live on 11 acres a 25-minute rush-hour commute to my job, my water is free, and my peace & quiet is priceless.
Did anyone notice that the house to the right of this one has a "for sale" sign on the front lawn?
