Unacceptable

Built by Maplecrest Construction
Rockford, Illinois

Can you recognize what is wrong with this picture? The mismatched shingles perhaps? I just don't understand why people buy crap like this. Why would you pay $150,000, which is what these homes go for, and then just bend over and take it when the builder says that the shingles are acceptable and he will not change them. First of all, you should tell the builder to stick it and NOT buy the house as is. Then, when his junk homes do not sell maybe he will get a clue.

When did Americans start thinking it was okay to settle for less than quality?

Click here and read this person's complaint on the builder, and then read the rebuttal. I need blood pressure medication now. I used to own a Contry Home and everything the first guy says is true. My shingles may have matched but the roof leaked, and then after numerous attempts to repair it my shingles did not match. Illinois does not enforce their building codes...if they even have them. The advice I always got was a shoulder shrug and to basically just shut-up and pay my outrageous property taxes.

When they figured on flipping it for $100+K profit before the first mortgage payment came due, that's when.

Or when they panicked after hearing "HOUSING ARMAGEDDON IS HERE! PRICES HAVE NOWHERE TO GO BUT UP! BUY NOW OR BE PRICED OUT FOREVER! DON'T BE LEFT BEHIND!"

My wife and I are/were thinking of purchasing a house through Maplecrest Construction. We saw with our own 4 eyes the mis matched shingles across from the house we were looking at!! looks terrible!!

I agree Maplecrest builds less than par homes

My maplecrest construction home needs some serious attention. Not only are the shingles falling off, but the siding is also! Do not buy from maplecrest construction.

My Maplecrest home is also not up to par. The shingles flap in the wind and the siding is also bowing out.

correction: do not buy from petry development.

Maplecrest does not wrap their homes (West Grove subdivision) and the drafts are horrible. Siding is starting to fall off, etc. I have owned the home for 2 years and I wish I could sell.

oh my Gosh- I cannot tell you about all of the problems that we had with our 1902 sq. ft. ranch. it was a living nightmare. I feel so bad for all of the people living in our old subdivision. They would send out guys to "fix" all of the many, many problems with a tube of caulk and tape. It was unreal. We are so glad to not be living there anymore, and so grateful. We had the following issues just to name a few (in the first 6 months we lived there)-water in basement, mold in basement (lots of toxic mold) leaks in roof, water POURING in through windows...it was a JOKE....
